Berry good

It's been a spectacular summer weather-wise and the fruit now showing up at farm stands is proof. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, gooseberries, salmonberries, tayberries, loganberries, thimbleberries (pictured bottom), huckleberries, elderberries… it's berry bedlam here on southern Vancouver Island at this time of year.

I'm enjoying living on the cusp of a rural area noted for fruit production. Walks on country roads and a flat of perfect raspberries… not a bad way to spend the morning.

Across the road from this farm I paused to admire patches of moss and berry thickets that were pretty much picked out, but with one fragile crimson beauty left for me.

Remember shopping for gooseberry fool at Marks + Sparks? What a special place you live, in this whole wide world.
